Foodies have certainly tasted a variety of regional specialties that are scattered in this beloved archipelago. Each region has cuisines with its own unique taste. Probably, there are those having similarities but with different names. Apparently, your traveli will become incomplete without having tried local specialties.

If Yogyakarta (in Java Island) has Sego Kucing, Bali Island has a similar product named Nasi Jinggo or literally Jinggo Rice. As the name suggests, Nasi Jinggo comes with the main ingredients of rice plus chili sauce, fried sweet grated coconut, a little shredded chicken, fried noodles and fried tempeh or tofu. Wrapped in green banana leaves and sewn with a pin (bamboo pin), it is ready to tempt any culinary enthusiast or foodie.

How much does it cost? If the usual mixed rice starts from IDR 10,000, now this Jinggo Rice Bali is sold starting at IDR 5,000. If you feel inadequate, you can add some packages. Maybe three packages of jinggo rice can be more than one portion of mixed rice above.

An interesting or striking feature of this Bali rice or Nasi Jinggo is its spicy chili sauce. If it happens to suit your taste, even though it feels spicy, adding is no problem. Moreover, it even brings in more funs while wiping the sweat on your face.

In the past, Nasih Jinggo might only be sold in big cities like Denpasar in the afternoon by seasonal traders on the roadside. Now, it has spread to urban areas. Of course local diaspora in Denpasar can also get Nasi Jinggo or Bali simple rice in their hometown. Absolutely, today you can get it more easily as people sell it nearly everywhere like traditional night market, roadside, terminal, in front of minimarket and so on.
