This klepon or kelepon cake is made from glutinous rice flour which is shaped like small balls and filled with brown sugar and then boiled in boiling water. In terms of color, they are in natural green and purple.

The ripe klepon will be rolled on top of the grated coconut so that it sticks. Because of this, the klepon looks like it’s covered in grated coconut. Normally, the klepon is placed in a container made of banana leaves.

If you happen to be on vacation on the Island of Bali, you can easily get this klepon cake. In addition to traditional markets, its sellers also offer them at roadside food stalls. For example, on the Kerobokan-Tanah Lot route, there are many klepon cake sellers. The cakes are packaged in banana leaf or mica plastic packages.

This cake is also sold in the Tanah Lot tourist attraction area. They are residents who come from villages around Tanah Lot who sell in turns. Before the pandemic, the cake is available for whole day long while the object opens. Then, it is also better known as typical cake of Tanah Lot.
