- YEH Matan Beach with black sand is still quiet, beautiful and natural to explore
- Currently Yeh Matan Beach on the western side is being managed by the local customary village
Yeh Matan Beach on the western side is part of Antap Kelod Hamlet, Antap. The road to the location from the LPD Antap Kelod is still semi-permanent in the form of concrete road. However, it can be passed through by motorbikes and cars.
Uniquely, this black sandy beach is directly adjacent to Bebali Beach and Kelecung Beach within a radius of about 300 meters. Its estuary becomes the confluence of the Yeh Matan River and Celagi Creek.
During dry season, this estuary is usually dammed due to the small flow of river water. The running water flows enough to seep into the sea under beach sand. Well, once the rainy season comes, the water pond will burst and form a river channel directly into the sea. Thus, at high tide, the waves will be able to reach the estuary.
Activity
When the estuary water is dammed or the tide rises that reaches the estuary, the estuary can be used for tourism activity such as riding jukung or traditional boat. Visitors will be invited to explore the river or creek whose edges are overgrown with mangrove and nipa palm trees. In addition, local people also use the estuary area to catch white shrimp and mullet.
There are also three traditional fishing bases where on good waves or weather, the local fishermen can go to sea with their jukung.
However, if you want to just relax, you can take a walk along this beach in west Bali where you can explore the beach which is still beautiful and natural. To maintain the cleanliness, the local customary village has employed a team to clean up the beach regularly. The driftwood is separated from plastic waste which has been managed through waste bank.
Access
This beach in Tabanan can be accessed from Bajra Village (Denpasar-Gilimanuk) by following the Serma Watra road and turning left in front of the LPD Antap Kelod. Secondly, it can also be accessed from the Tanah Lot-Soka shortcut (a small concrete road in the section from Bebali to Antap), turn left in front of the Antap Health Center.
Well, for the next route from Gilimanuk-Denpasar, turn right in front of LPD Soka and then turn right and follow the first path. Now, specifically for motorbikes from the Gilimanuk-Denpasar route, there is an alternative route by turning right at the southern end of Banjar Soka Kelod to Pura Dalem, following the route and crossing the suspension bridge to Dalem Temple of Antap Kelod. Go straight at the T-junction in front of Bale Banjar, and then turn right in front of LPD Antap Kelod and follow the first route.
